Your First Harness
This tutorial walks you through creating a simple wire harness design from scratch.
What You'll Build
A basic harness with:
- Two connectors (J1 and J2)
- Wires connecting pins between them
- A bundle routing the wires
Step 1: Create a New Project
- From the Start Screen, click New Project
- Enter a project name (e.g., "My First Harness")
- Click Create
A new project opens with an empty drawing sheet.
Step 2: Add Components
Option A: From Library
- Open the Side Menu and click the Library tab
- Browse or search for a connector
- Drag it onto the canvas
- Repeat to add a second connector
Option B: Custom Component
- Press Ctrl+Insert or use the Command Palette
- Enter component details:
- Name: J1
- Pin Count: 4
- Click Create
- Repeat for J2
Option C: Using AI Chat
Open AI Chat and type:
Create connector J1 with 4 pins at position 100, 100
Create connector J2 with 4 pins at position 400, 100Step 3: Create a Bundle
Bundles are the routing paths for wires.
- Select the Bundle tool from the Toolbar or press Alt+B
- Click to place the bundle start point near J1
- Click to add waypoints
- Double-click to place the end point near J2
Step 4: Connect Wires
- Select the Wire tool or press Alt+W
- Click on J1's first pin
- Click on J2's first pin
- The wire is created and automatically routed through the bundle
Repeat for additional pins, or use AI Chat:
Connect all pins of J1 to corresponding pins of J2Step 5: Review Your Design
Check Connections
- Click a wire to see its routing path highlighted
- Open the Inspector to view wire properties
Wire Table
Each component automatically has a wire table showing its connections. You can also create a sheet-level wire table via the Command Palette (Create sheet wire table) to see all wires on the current sheet.
Step 6: Save and Export
Save
Your project auto-saves to the cloud. You can also:
- Press Ctrl+S to force save
- Use File > Save from the menu
Export
See the Exporting Tutorial for PDF and Excel export.
